Transparency International merely claims to monitor the PERCEPTION of corruption. Transparency NZ investigate and monitor actual corruption and publish evidence of it. It is clear that the media have a major role in controlling the PERCEPTION of corruption, as the Leveson inquiry revealed, the media is certainly not infallible, and as the Kitteridge report revealed, the relationship between the media and politicians is incestuous and nepotistic.
